Alan Rosenberg Comments in Daily Business Review story about how MRTH is Working to Help Raise the Next Generation of Fla. Bankruptcy Lawyers

Posted on Jan 23, 2026 - News by

Markowitz Ringel Trusty + Hartog (MRTH), the University of Miami School of Law and the Bankruptcy Bar Association for the Southern District of Florida have all joined in on efforts to attract young, curious attorneys to the bankruptcy practice.

In 2025, the firm—which has now been in operation for 45 years—joined forces with the University of Miami and organizations including the Bankruptcy Bar Association for the Southern District of Florida to jointly develop a recruitment plan to recruit more bankruptcy attorneys into the industry. Their collaboration includes education and professional development.

“Now that bankruptcy is really busy again, we all need help. And the market is slim picking. There aren’t really a lot of young bankruptcy attorneys,” Rosenberg said. “I don’t really know the reason for that, other than people don’t know that much about the practice,” said Alan Rosenberg, partner.

Samantha Ramlogan, a recently hired bankruptcy associate at Markowitz Ringel Trusty + Hartog, is one of the young attorneys who found a network and resources through the Bankruptcy Bar Association. Through the BBA, she met attorneys, judges, bankruptcy trustees, forensic accountants and a wide array of other insolvency professionals.

“The bankruptcy community is a mentoring, tight knit, inviting group that offers many opportunities. Working on bankruptcy cases and with bankruptcy trustees allows me to evaluate assets and find the best possible outcome for clients,” Ramlogan said in a statement. “Also, like other young attorneys, I’ve always wanted to handle a pro bono matter. This opportunity wasn’t available in insurance defense. Through various bankruptcy clinics at the University of Miami and Florida International University, young attorneys (and law students) can work on pro bono cases, help others and learn new skills.”
