Candis Trusty and Carly Weiss Speak at Dade County Bar Association Probate Seminar

MIAMI, FL February 4, 2021 – Shareholder Candis Trusty moderated, and associate Carly Weiss served as a panelist at the “You be the Judge” probate seminar, which took place on January 29, 2021, in Miami, Florida.  Dade Legal Aid/Put Something Back and the Dade County Bar Association Probate & Guardianship Committee and Young Lawyers Section sponsor this seminar where top probate attorneys describe actual cases and the law and the attendees vote on the outcomes.  After the vote, the attorneys advise the attendees of the actual outcome and the judges’ reasoning behind the decisions. 

Trusty is a member of the firm’s Probate + Guardianship practice group and she concentrates her practice in the areas of elder care, probate, and guardianship law.   She is listed in the Best Lawyers in America, is a Florida Super Lawyer, and is a South Florida Legal Guide Top Lawyer.  Trusty is the recipient of multiple pro bono service awards and is a recipient of the Certificate of Recognition for Outstanding Pro Bono Service from the South Miami Kendall Bar Association.  In May 2017, she received the Richard Milstein Excellence Award from Dade Legal Aid (Put Something Back) in recognition of excellence in professionalism and pro bono service in the community.

Weiss practices in the firm’s Probate & Guardianship group. Her prior experience includes prosecuting and litigating cases of abuse, abandonment, and neglect involving child welfare. She was previously a Senior Attorney with Children’s Legal Services at the State of Florida Department of Children & Families in Miami. Weiss will incorporate her experience litigating difficult family matters concerning children with matters involving the elderly, incapacitated persons, probate estates, and guardianship issues. Weiss is admitted to practice in Florida and New York. She holds a J.D. from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in New York and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Washington University in St. Louis.
